- Age limit: 20 to 27 years on 1 July 2027. You must be born between 1 July 2000 and 30 June 2007. Only the date of birth on your Matriculation or Secondary School certificate is accepted
- Education: BE/BTech in a notified engineering stream, or MSc Computer Science. Degrees from foreign countries are not accepted.
- Final-year students: You can apply, but you must submit proof of passing. All semester marksheets must be submitted by 1 July 2027. If your result comes after that date, you are not eligible. You must also meet the stream cut-off percentage.
- Marital Status: Candidates must be unmarried. Marriage during training leads to discharge.

- SSB Dates: Shortlisted candidates log in and pick an SSB centre and date on a first come, first serve basis. The centres are Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru and Jalandhar.
- SSB Interview: This is a two-stage test lasting up to five days. Those who fail during Stage 1 are sent home during the same day.
- Medical exam: Candidates recommended after Stage 2 go through a medical examination.
- Merit list: The list is made stream-wise on SSB marks. If marks tie, the older candidates rank higher.
- Joining letter: Medically fit candidates within the vacancy count get a joining letter for IMA.
