UNUSUAL BUT TRUE – Cut off marks for reserved categories are higher than that of general category<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) AEN Pre Exam was held on 16th<\/sup>-18th<\/sup> December 2018, and result for the same is declared on 18th<\/sup> July 2019. A total of 12800 candidates in Civil Stream and 1200 candidates in Mechanical\/Electrical stream qualified RPSC AEN-Pre exam.<\/p>\n

Declaration of RPSC AEN (Pre) result gave rise to multiple opinions and mixed feelings. It is interesting to find that the cut off marks for OBC\/SC\/ST category is higher than general category cut off marks for RPSC AEN exam. Lets take a deeper look into the marks :<\/p>\n

*GEN \u2013 General Male, WE- Women , WD \u2013 Widow, DV- Divorcee<\/strong><\/p>\n

If we see in the table cut off is approx 30 marks more for ST category and 12 marks more for OBC in CE branch and for EE\/ME OBC cut off is higher by 30 marks than general cut off marks. Same is the scenario for the Panchayati Raj cut off also.<\/p>\n

Some aspirants are treating it as flagrant violation of the policy for the reserved candidates but candidates need to understand population of Rajasthan is nearly 72% reserved category (50 % OBC and 12.6% SC\/ST) and they are fighting for 49.5 % seats which is leading to a neck to neck competition and higher cut offs.<\/p>\n

Cut off marks for the reserved category is usually set lower than that of general candidates, this is based on reservation percentage, number of candidates and the vacancies available. Indeed a good move to support reserved category aspirants. In this exam OBC and SC\/ST candidates performed better than general candidates, and with large number of candidates belonging to reserved categories have lead to increase in cut offs.<\/p>\n

Apart from this special provisions for the Women Empowerment can be seen in the cut off table. With considerable low cut offs for Women\/Widows\/ Divorcee candidates has enabled maximum aspirants to clear this cut off and secure a seat for the Main examination. With ALL women candidates clearing the RPSC AEN Pre exam in CE branch and majority clearing in ME\/EE stream certainly has proved the competition has increased to a drastic level.<\/p>\n

With this result, RPSC<\/a> (Rajasthan Public Service Commission) has also declared the date of Main Examination, which is to be held on 9th<\/sup> -13th<\/sup> October 2019.
